During a health and economic crisis, you don’t want to:
1) use the business strategies that made sense when business was booming…
2) rush to file lawsuits for nonperformance that antagonize your suppliers, vendors, and customers—probably the same people you’d like to do business with when the coronavirus eventually gets under control…
3) be sued for nonperformance and spend incredible sums for litigation expenses and years waiting for a judicial decision…
4) default on loans if you can make a cogent professional presentation of the financial and legal reasons that modifications should be made now, and you can prove your ability to pay later. (Lenders differ in their requirements. Make a mistake, and you could go to the back of a very long line—or never get back in the line.)
For a 30-minute confidential phone call with Rich about:
1) crisis business strategies to implement immediately,
2) negotiations to settle contractual disputes with suppliers, vendors, customers and others,
3) renegotiations of corporate loans (not real estate loans or the new SBA loans that are handled by banks), and
4) much more.
Please complete the form below.
Shortly after clicking “Submit” to send your information directly to Rich, you’ll receive an email that includes an invoice for the 30-minute call. This may be paid only by credit card. You’ll also receive the link to Rich’s personal online calendar so you can choose the most convenient day and time for your confidential call with him. After your payment has been processed, Rich will review your company website so your conversation will be most productive.
When answering the last question on the form, if you have a dispute with a supplier, vendor, customer or another party, please describe the type of dispute and the approximate amount disputed.
If you want to discuss renegotiating a loan, please provide the type of loan, original amount and current balance, interest rate, and security for the loan. (Rich doesn’t renegotiate real estate loans.)

I say that “A negotiation should be a charming conversation to persuade the other side to agree with you—for their benefit.”
I’ve spent more than 40 years polishing my negotiation skills by studying law and finance, as well as the dynamics of the entire negotiation process and human psychology. The business advice I offer is based on my success as a entrepreneur, CEO and CPA.
I invite you to read the testimonials below from named owners of small and medium-size businesses, Fortune 500 CEOs, prominent attorneys and CPAs from major firms, and others about the results I achieved for them.
I negotiate the business aspects of transactions throughout the United States and internationally. I don't practice law or accounting for my negotiation clients because I'm licensed as an attorney and CPA only in Illinois. I couldn't do my negotiation work half as successfully without being both an attorney and CPA because I know the law and can follow the numbers.
The vast, vast majority of attorneys practice law and don't specialize in negotiating the business aspects of transactions. I don't impinge on the relationships my negotiation clients have with their current attorneys and CPAs. I often give my client's attorneys the business terms I've negotiated and then they draft appropriate contracts.
Before our phone call, I’ll do my homework by reviewing your website. You prepare your list of questions. You will receive my best thoughts for renegotiating loans, resolving disputes with suppliers, vendors, and customers to avoid lawsuits, and immediately implementing new business strategies in times of crisis.
You can execute my ideas on your own if you wish. Some people will do so, others will not want to go it alone at this unique time. If you’re interested, if you ask me, and if you qualify, I can renegotiate directly or behind the scenes with lenders for you and also negotiate directly or behind the scenes to resolve issues with suppliers, vendors, and customers. It’s your choice.
Complete the form at the left, schedule your appointment on my online calendar, prepare your questions, and call me. Let's get started solving your problems. --Rich
“I retained Rich to negotiate a matter with a Wall Street investment firm. Because of Rich’s creative and consummate negotiating talents and business judgment, the result was a settlement for an amount we hadn’t even imagined was possible."
- Ted Thompson, Former Chief Financial Officer for 11 years for Grant Thornton, LLP., one of the ten largest accounting firms in the world
“I’ve argued cases before the United States Supreme Court and most of the major courts in the U.S. and was on the management committee at a law firm with more than 300 lawyers. Nevertheless, when I had a personal financial matter that needed to be negotiated, I hired Rich Michi. He negotiated a deal for 25 times more than the major corporation offered to me."
- Frank Heap, Attorney and CPA
“I have been a practicing attorney in Chicago and Dallas for more than 30 years and have worked on legal matters with extraordinary lawyers and clients. Rich Michi is extremely knowledgeable about law and very savvy about business, and those qualities put him in a very small and distinguished group. Thank goodness I’ve never sat at a negotiating table only to discover Rich on the other side.”
- James A. Knox, Attorney, Zurich North America
"I saw Rich at work when the economy turned for the worse and a major investment of my group was in jeopardy. Rich negotiated for us, and because of his expertise, acumen and tenacity, the investment was sold at a substantial profit."
- Marvin Stern, President, Fortune 100 Corporation
"When I have major contractual matters that need to be negotiated, I immediately call Rich to represent me. He is as meticulous and detailed in preparing for a negotiation as I am in preparing an aria: note-by-note."
- Jennifer Larmore, Grammy Award-winning international opera star and the most recorded mezzo-soprano in history; Author, "Una Voce: The Drama in Opera, both Onstage and Off," (2015)
"He is a professional negotiator and businessman who has an uncanny ability to anticipate the likely moves and counter-moves, questions and objections, and the reasons for each. I know that agents negotiate better deals than their principals because agents are more objective and dispassionate; because agents don’t have full authority to make concessions, they make fewer and smaller concessions. So I want Rich to do the strategizing and speaking while I avoid the ancient adage, ‘If you represent yourself, you have a fool for a client.’"
- Petra von Heimburg, Attorney
"I was in a series of business meetings with Rich at a major Park Avenue law firm. There were no doubts in the minds of the lawyers in attendance that Rich was thoroughly familiar with an incredibly complex matrix of business issues. Benefiting from his dual degrees as an attorney and CPA, Rich was indispensable in formulating the issues and securing cooperation and agreement on matters that might have become contentious. As a result of Rich’s negotiating skills, we were able to achieve a result that went far beyond our expectations."
- Robert Ungaro, Attorney, Ungaro and Cifuni, New York
"I have known Rich Michi since our days together in college. Rich was a debater and a classical musician and also found time to win the university’s highest award for academic achievement.
With his multi-disciplinary background as a tax lawyer, CPA, financial executive, and successful entrepreneur, he analyses issues from many perspectives, sees what others miss, and is a great problems solver. Because of his intelligence, pragmatism, and personality, I am not surprised that top executives and professionals seek his representation, counsel and coaching. Rich is the person I consult when I need sound advice and when I need to develop creative negotiating strategies that minimize risk for my business."
- Alan Gingold, Owner and CFO, Lorenz Bus Service, Minneapolis
"I enjoyed working with Rich because he was intelligent and diligent in his analysis, as well as creative in the manner in which he thought about ways to solve problems. I also appreciated that he looked beyond the immediate question to the broader problems of a transaction."
- Arthur S. Rollin, Attorney and CPA, Head of the Tax Department at the Chicago offices of law firms Mayer Brown and (subsequently) Skadden Arps
